When you'd do this
You've a mix of files — recordings, downloads, voice notes, the sound of videos — and want them all as MP3s that play anywhere.
What to expect
An MP3's size depends only on its bitrate and length: a minute is about 0.9 MB at 128 kbps, about 1.4 MB at 192 kbps and about 2.3 MB at 320 kbps, whatever it came from.
Recommended settings
192 kbps (the default) for music; 128 kbps for speech; 320 kbps for lossless sources (WAV, FLAC) you care about.
Where it plays
Every phone, computer, browser, car stereo and audio app.
Good to know
- An MP3 made here can be up to 60 minutes long (4 hours from a WAV).
- From another lossy format (M4A, AAC, OGA…) the sound is encoded again, losing a little.
- Titles, artists and cover art aren't copied; M4B chapters aren't kept.
How to do it
- Choose your audio files, or drop them on the page — any mix of formats.
- Each is set to MP3. Change one on its own row if you like, and the MP3 bitrate and the channels in Settings.
- Convert all, then download each MP3, or all of them in one .zip.
Questions
- Which formats can I convert to MP3?
- WAV, FLAC, M4A, M4B, MP4 (and other videos), AAC, OGA/OGG and WEBA/WebM.
- Can I convert files of different formats at once?
- Yes. Add them together; each becomes an MP3, and you can download them as one .zip.
- Is there a size limit?
- Most files can be up to 2 GB; MP3s up to 100 MB and 30 minutes.
