When you'd do this
You've a .weba or WebM audio file — a recording made in a browser or web app, or audio saved from a website — and it won't open in your player or editor.
What to expect
A 4-minute WEBA at 128 kbps is about 3.7 MB; the MP3 at 192 kbps is about 5.5 MB.
Recommended settings
192 kbps (the default): WEBA's Opus sound is efficient, so the MP3 needs a higher bitrate to sound as good. 128 kbps is fine for voice.
Where it plays
Every device and app — including iPhones and editors that don't open WebM.
Good to know
- WebM videos work too: only their sound is converted.
- The sound is encoded a second time, which costs a little quality.
- An MP3 made here can be up to 60 minutes long.
How to do it
- Choose your WEBA files, or drop them on the page — as many as you like.
- Each is set to MP3. Change one on its own row if you like, and the MP3 bitrate and the channels in Settings.
- Convert all, then download each MP3, or all of them in one .zip.
Questions
- What is a WEBA file?
- Audio in a WebM container, usually Opus — the format browsers record in. It's an ordinary audio file under a less familiar name.
- Can I convert a WebM video to MP3?
- Yes. Choose the .webm file and its sound becomes the MP3.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No, they're converted in your browser.
